Garden Center Pictogram Project

For this project, I was tasked with creating a set of pictograms that were set within a specific environment. This environment being City Escape Garden Center and Design Studio, a garden center in Chicago. I wanted my pictogram designs to help guide the customer throughout the space without directly using words. Check out the final pictograms and the process behind creating them below.

STARTING THE PROJECT

FINAL PICTOGRAMS

With the environment being a garden center and design studio, I knew I needed to narrow down specific ares of the center to highlight. The sections
that I chose to design were for the succulents, pots, tools, flowers, apparel, and plant care.

BEGINNING THE PROCESS

I wanted the designs to feel modern yet still natural and organic, which was achieved by hand drawing the pictograms. The center’s building is very clean and sleek, in which the pictograms contrast beautifully.
